Playa Cala Peineta
Cala Peineta is a wild beach with access dependent on the tide, ensuring a tranquil atmosphere. It is distinguished by a rock formation rising from the sea and the rock walls that flank it, creating a natural landscape. It is an option for those seeking a more isolated beach experience within the Natural Park.
How to Get There
From San José, take the road leading to Mónsul and Genoveses beaches. Access to Cala Peineta is on foot, either across El Barronal beach when the tide is low, or by walking around the Mónsul dune. There is no direct vehicle access to the cove.
Parking and Facilities
There is no dedicated parking or facilities at Cala Peineta. Vehicles must be parked in the designated car parks for Mónsul or Genoveses beaches (paid in high season, with a shuttle bus service from San José in July and August). It is an unspoilt beach with no services of any kind (beach bars, showers, toilets).
Beach Characteristics
The cove is short in length. The sand is mixed, with areas of sand and others of gravel or rock. The swell is generally moderate, although it can vary depending on weather conditions. The recommended time to visit is outside high season (July and August) to avoid crowds at the access points and enjoy greater tranquility.
What to Do
Swimming and relaxing in a natural environment. The cove is suitable for landscape photography due to its rock formations. Snorkelling is possible in its waters.
Practical Tips
- 💡 Bring water and provisions, as there are no services on the beach. Consult the tide table before going, as access can be difficult at high tide. Wear appropriate footwear for walking on uneven and rocky terrain. Leave no trace; take all rubbish with you.
