Playa Las Negras

Playa Las Negras
Playa Las Negras is the urban beach of the village of the same name. It is characterised by its dark pebbles and stones, a result of the area's volcanic origin, particularly evident in Cerro Negro which flanks the beach to the east. While not a fine sand beach, its waters are crystal clear and offer good conditions for snorkelling. The beach shares its space with local fishing boats, contributing to its authentic atmosphere.
How to Get There
From Níjar, access is via the ALP-208 road. The journey is straightforward and well-signposted.
Parking and Facilities
There is a large open area in the village for parking, with easy access to the beach. As an urban beach, it offers services such as coastal surveillance, restaurants, accommodation, and tourist activities. Access is adapted for people with reduced mobility.
Beach Characteristics
The beach is 850 metres long. The sand is mixed, with an abundance of pebbles and dark stones. The swell is usually gentle and the waters are crystal clear. It is a busy beach during peak season due to its urban location and services.
What to Do
Go snorkelling to observe marine life. Enjoy a calm swim in its clear waters. Observe the local fishing boats. From here, you can access Cala de San Pedro (only by sea or after a 2-hour hike) and Cala de El Cuervo (by taking a detour from the main road).
Practical Tips
- 💡 Wear appropriate footwear for walking on the stones if you are not used to them.
- 💡 Take advantage of the village's services for food or drinks after your swim.
- 💡 If you are interested in snorkelling, bring your own equipment; visibility is good.
- 💡 Consider visiting Cala de San Pedro by kayak if you are looking for a more secluded experience.
