Almadraba de Monteleva
A coastal settlement next to the salt flats, amidst flamingos and unique sunsets.
Almadraba de Monteleva is one of the most unique spots in Cabo de Gata. Nestled between the famous salt flats and the Mediterranean, this small coastal hamlet offers one of the most iconic views of the park: pink flamingos on the still water of the salt flats, with the volcanic backdrop of the cape at sunset.
The place takes its name from the old almadraba, the net trap that was used here for centuries for tuna fishing. Today, there are a few fish restaurants and a few white houses that regain absolute calm in the low season.
It is an ideal destination for bird lovers: in addition to flamingos, the salt flats host dozens of migratory species throughout the year.
