Rodalquilar
The gold mines, El Playazo, and the industrial memory of Cabo de Gata.
Rodalquilar is one of the most layered villages in Cabo de Gata. Its scenic beauty —El Playazo, one of the largest beaches in the park, is just a few kilometers away— is complemented by a unique industrial history: during the 20th century, the Rodalquilar gold mines transformed this corner of the park into an enclave of feverish activity that today survives in the form of photogenic ruins.
The old mine facilities, with their oxidized deposits and the industrial architecture of the 1940s and 1950s, are integrated into the landscape and can be visited.
The current village is quiet, with some charming accommodations and restaurants that offer an authentic experience during mid-season.
