HomeRestaurants › Where to eat in Las Negras

Las Negras is fresh fish and terraces by the pebble beach. Here are the best-rated restaurants in the village, with a link to each one's listing and a phone number to book. It's a practical guide: places are ordered by customer rating.

Las Negras, from bar to bar

Las Negras is the most laid-back village on the coast, and it shows at the table: less tablecloth and more counter, music and a terrace at dusk. By day the beach rules and the easy option is to eat at the bars and beach kiosks along the promenade, with local fried fish and something fresh. At night the good plan is to go from place to place, because here tapas work better than long set menus. In summer it's worth booking for dinner, and if not, wait for a table to free up with a beer in hand. Off-season Las Negras holds out better than other villages and a fair few places stay open, though the August buzz leaves with the summer.

Asador Martín Fierro. the local temple of Argentine meat, open all year. Reviews agree on the same thing: high quality and high price, hard to come in under 50 euros a head. For reference, the empanadilla criolla is around 3.50 euros, the provoleta 12 and the homemade croquettes 18. They also do grilled octopus and squid. Book by phone (629 437 795).

Il Capriccio. a wood-fired pizzeria next to the El Bergantín shopping centre. Good value, generous portions and quick service; the filled pasta and the tiramisu tend to come off well. Open midday and evening (13:00 to 16:00 and 19:30 to 22:30 in season).

La Mar Salá. one of the seafood places, on the promenade, with a fish menu and even sushi. It doesn't publish prices or fixed hours, so book and ask (633 13 15 95).

Taka Tuka. an artisan ice-cream shop a step from the beach (Calle Bahía de las Negras 15), with gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan options. Open every day from 8:00 to 21:00, and in mid-August it stretches late. A must-stop for ice cream or breakfast.
