Las Negras
The most alternative cove in Cabo de Gata, with its own character.
Las Negras has a well-earned reputation as the most alternative village in Cabo de Gata. Since the seventies, it has attracted a type of traveler looking for something different: less organized tourism, more authenticity, a volcanic black sand cove, and charming accommodation at reasonable prices.
The village maintains a unique balance between the local community, long-term residents, and visitors. There are good restaurants, a bar with music in summer, and a calm atmosphere that makes it a perfect base for exploring the northern part of the park during the mid-season.
From Las Negras, you can reach Cala del Plomo by boat or on foot (a 3-hour trail), one of the most inaccessible and pristine coves in the park.
How to get to Las Negras
- By car: From San José via the AL-3108 and a detour in Rodalquilar. About 25 km, 35 minutes.
- Parking: Parking area at the entrance. In July-August, it fills up early.
- Boat to Cala del Plomo: Seasonal service from the small pier. Inquire in the village.
