El Cabo de Gata
The village of the lighthouse, the salt flats, and the southernmost point of the natural park.
El Cabo de Gata is the village that gives its name to the natural park and the southernmost cape of the Almerian coast. From here begins the most spectacular stretch of the volcanic coast, with the lighthouse as a visible landmark miles away.
The village itself is a quiet hub with white houses, a small port, and the famous flamingos of the salt flats just a few meters away. The walk to the lighthouse, with views of the Sirens' Reef, is one of the park's must-sees.
The urban beach is long and sandy, with all services. A good base for exploring both the northern coast and the first kilometers of the wilder southern stretch.
