Cabo de Gata · in the mining valley, tapas and unhurried cooking
Rodalquilar sits in the old mining valley, with tapas and unhurried cooking. Here are the village's best-rated restaurants, with a link to each listing and its phone number to book. It's a practical guide: the places are ordered by customer rating.
Rodalquilar is eaten looking out over the valley, with the old gold mines in the background and no rush at all. It's one of the quietest villages, and its offering is short but the kind you come back for: local cooking, rice dishes and grilled meat, without any fuss. On weekends in season it's worth booking, and in winter almost everything takes a breather midweek, so it's better to call ahead. The best plan is to combine the table with a walk: the El Albardinal botanical garden and the mines area are a step away, and afterwards you eat with more of an appetite.
Bar Fidel. the lifelong village bar, on Calle Los Gorriones 4, where you end up having one last drink. Home cooking and generous portions, with divided opinions: many highlight the value for money and others warn that the fish is charged by weight and the bill surprises you at the end. A meal runs about 20 to 30 euros. It has no fixed published hours: better to call (950 389 832).
