Playa Cala Bergantín
Playa Cala Bergantín is an isolated cove located within the Polacra ecological protection zone, near Rodalquilar. Its untouched nature, free from any constructions, and its natural surroundings make it a suitable spot for those seeking tranquillity. The landscape is characterised by cliffs and low-lying vegetation, creating a sense of isolation.
How to Get There
To reach Cala Bergantín, you must walk 1.5 kilometres from Playazo de Rodalquilar. From Rodalquilar, take the road leading to Playazo. Once at Playazo, the path to Cala Bergantín starts at the far left end of the beach, facing the sea. The path is an unpaved dirt track with no technical difficulty, but appropriate footwear is recommended. The walk takes approximately 20-30 minutes.
Parking and Facilities
The nearest parking is at Playazo de Rodalquilar. This is an unregulated and free car park. During the summer months, particularly in July and August, it can fill up quickly, so early arrival is advisable. Cala Bergantín has no facilities or services of any kind (beach bars, showers, toilets).
Beach Characteristics
The cove is approximately 150 metres long. The sand is mixed, with areas of coarse sand and pebbles. The swell is usually moderate, though it can vary depending on wind conditions, especially with Levante winds. The waters are clear. Visitor numbers are low throughout the year due to its pedestrian access, making it a good option for avoiding crowds. The recommended seasons are spring and autumn for mild temperatures and fewer visitors.
What to Do
Main activities at Cala Bergantín include swimming, sunbathing in a quiet environment, and landscape observation. It is a suitable place for walking along the shore and enjoying the calm. Due to the clarity of its waters, snorkelling is an option, although there is not a wide diversity of marine life.
