Playa de la Fabriquilla

Playa de la Fabriquilla is the final section of the extensive Las Salinas beach, located in Almadraba de Monteleva, just before reaching the Cabo de Gata Lighthouse. It is characterised by its medium-coarse sand, suitable for family bathing, and is sheltered from the Levante wind by the nearby volcanic cliffs. Its strategic location marks the entrance to the volcanic landscape of Cabo de Gata, offering a quieter atmosphere than other more crowded beaches in the Natural Park, even during high season.

How to Get There

From Níjar, take the AL-3115 road towards San José. Before reaching San José, follow signs for the Cabo de Gata Lighthouse via the AL-3115. The beach is located in the village of La Fabriquilla, at the end of the road that runs alongside the Salinas. The journey from Níjar takes approximately 40-45 minutes.

Parking and Facilities

The road running parallel to the beach has wide verges used for free parking. There are direct accesses to the sand via wooden walkways. In the village of La Fabriquilla and the nearby Almadraba de Monteleva, you will find bars and restaurants offering local cuisine. There are no other services such as showers or toilets directly on the beach, apart from those offered by the establishments.

Beach Characteristics

La Fabriquilla is part of a beach over 5 kilometres long, although this specific section is shorter and defined by the urban area. The sand is medium-coarse. The swell is generally gentle, and the beach is usually sheltered from the Levante wind. Occupancy is low to medium even in August, making it a tranquil option.

What to Do

Enjoy a calm swim in its waters. Stroll along the shore, exploring the surroundings of the Salinas and the Salinas Church (visible along the beach). Sample local gastronomy in the restaurants of La Fabriquilla or Almadraba de Monteleva. It is a good starting point for exploring the volcanic area of Cabo de Gata.
