Playa del Corralete
Playa del Corralete is located next to the Cabo de Gata lighthouse, to the west of El Morrón. This is a wild beach, approximately 400 metres long, featuring a mix of fine sand and some stony areas, set within the volcanic landscape of the Natural Park. Its clear waters and proximity to the Integral Marine Reserve make it a prime location for diving and snorkelling.
How to Get There
Access is via the AL-3115 road, which leads to the Cabo de Gata lighthouse. The turn-off for the beach is directly opposite Bar El Faro. The path from the road or parking area down to the sand is easy, suitable for carrying cool boxes and parasols.
Parking and Facilities
There is a designated parking area on an embankment directly above the cove. If this fills up, you can park along the roadside. As a wild beach, it has no services such as showers, toilets, or beach bars. Rubbish bins are provided in the parking area. It is not accessible for people with reduced mobility.
Beach Characteristics
The beach is approximately 400 metres long. It consists of fine sand, though some areas are mixed with stones. The left side of the beach has a large expanse of reddish stones; caution is advised, and water shoes are recommended here due to the presence of sea urchins. The swell is generally calm. The water is crystal-clear, and the seabed is rich in marine life.
What to Do
This is an ideal spot for snorkelling and diving, given the rich marine life of its seabed, which forms part of the Integral Marine Reserve. You can enjoy a peaceful swim in its waters. The area is also suitable for photography, especially at sunset, with the Cabo de Gata lighthouse as a backdrop.
Practical Tips
- 💡 1. Wear water shoes if you plan to explore the left side of the beach, due to the stones and sea urchins.
- 💡 2. As a wild beach with no services, bring everything you need: water, food, a parasol, and sun cream.
- 💡 3. Remember to dispose of all rubbish in the containers provided in the parking area to help preserve the natural environment.
