Playa Cala del Barranco Negro

Cala del Barranco Negro, also known as Cala de los Toros, is a wilder, more discreet beach surrounded by pine and palm trees. Its pedestrian access ensures a quieter, less crowded atmosphere than other local beaches, making it ideal for those seeking a natural retreat. Its volcanic seabed and green surroundings distinguish it from the more arid coves in the Park.

How to Get There

From La Isleta del Moro, take the road towards Rodalquilar. You will need to park your car at a point along the road and continue on foot along a path. The walk is of low-medium difficulty and takes approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on your pace.

Parking and Facilities

There is no designated parking directly at the cove. Parking is available on the verges of the road towards Rodalquilar, where space permits. There are no facilities or services of any kind on the beach (beach bars, toilets, showers).

Beach Characteristics

  • Length: Not specified, but it is a medium-sized cove.
  • Sand type: Predominantly pebbles and coarse sand, with volcanic seabeds.
  • Swell: Generally calm, protected by the coastal configuration.
  • Recommended season: Spring and autumn for greater tranquillity. In summer, visitor numbers are moderate.

What to Do

  • Snorkelling: The volcanic seabeds offer interesting underwater observation.
  • Swimming: Clean and calm waters.
  • Hiking: The access path and surrounding areas offer opportunities for short walks.
  • Nudism: Nudism is commonly practised on this beach.

Practical Tips

  • 💡 Bring everything you need: water, food, sun cream, and a bag for rubbish, as there are no services.
  • 💡 Wear appropriate footwear: The walking access and the sandy/pebbly terrain make water shoes or sturdy sandals advisable.
  • 💡 Respect the environment: This is a protected natural area. Do not leave rubbish and do not disturb the vegetation.
