Playa Agua Amarga is an urban beach that stretches for over half a kilometre along the village of Agua Amarga. It features fine golden sand and a considerable width, making it a practical option for swimming within the Natural Park.

How to Get There

From the AL-3106 road that crosses the Natural Park, take the turn-off towards Agua Amarga. The beach is located directly within the village.

Parking and Facilities

Parking is available within the village itself. As an urban beach, it offers a full range of services: bars, restaurants directly on the beachfront, ice cream kiosks, and accommodation. There is also a lifeguard station and accessible ramps and walkways for people with reduced mobility.

Beach Characteristics

  • Length: Over 500 metres.
  • Sand type: Fine and golden.
  • Water entry: Becomes deep after a few metres.
  • Swell: Generally calm.
  • Occupancy: High in July and August, moderate in June and September.

What to Do

  • Swimming and relaxation: Calm waters suitable for the whole family.
  • Beach stroll: Walk along the beach and the village promenade.
  • Kayak or light boat: Paddle along the rocky cliff to the west to reach a small cove with a cave, where people traditionally take mud baths.
  • Hiking: To the east of the beach, an old mineral loading dock has a railway section converted into a greenway for hikers.
  • Exploration: Visit the nearby coves of Cala de Enmedio and Cala del Plomo, or the fortified farmhouse of Cortijo Fortificado de la Rambla del Plomo.
